MEGT student Sarka Slavickova
What a fantastic start to the year for MEGT student Sarka Slavickova!
Sarka is on her final year of the Diploma of Hospitality course and has been maintaining an outstanding performance as a member of the MEGT Student Council. She was encouraged to apply for the NSW International Student of the Year Awards 2011 last November and has received the good news that she, along with 5 other VET students has been nominated for the award and is now one of the finalists!
The NSW International Student of the Year Awards 2011, promoted by the NSW Government and aims to recognize the contribution of the International student community by acknowledging those students that embody leadership and community involvement, rather than only academic achievements.
Sarka has achieved great results throughout her work with the community and by leading the MEGT Student Council with the organisation and promotion of a number of events over 2010.
Her instrumental part in the organisation of the Red Cross Blood Service Donation presentation last November has demonstrated Sarka’s maturity, professionalism and sense of community. Sarka’s initiative and skills have been recognised and supported not only MEGT staff members and fellow students but also by the Red Cross representatives and has led to her nomination.
Sarka will be representing MEGT Institute Sunday 6/03/2011 at the inaugural International Student Festival (ISF) in Darling Harbour’s Tumbalong Park where the winner result will be announced.
The ISF will provide a new way for students and their families to access information on the range of support and services available, including:
• Information services and stalls;
• Education promotions and giveaways; and
• Live music, food stalls and entertainment.
Let’s all support Sarka on this exciting moment! Go Go Go Sarka!
